Thanksgiving Day Preview
Bears @ Lions
A lot of the Fantasy interests in this game will be predicated on whether Bears QB Mitch Trubisky is able to play with an injured shoulder. In Tuesday’s press conference, Bears HC Matt Nagy expressed doubt as to whether Trubisky will suit up. If he is out Chase Daniel will be the starter and the Bears usual offensive game plan will be in disarray. Assuming Trubisky is out, expect the Bears to feed RBs Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen the ball for much of the game. Nagy will put in some short passes to Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton, but it will be hard for Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller to have more than a handful of targets especially with so little time for Daniel to prepare.
The Lions will be without their top running back, Kerryon Johnson. Expect them to use a committee with LeGarrette Blount, Zach Zenner, and Theo Riddick. Riddick will be especially valuable in this game because he is the third down back and will be called upon to block as well. Marvin Jones is still very questionable to play with a knee injury, so almost half of Matt Stafford’s targets will go to Kenny Golladay.
Prediction: There will be a lot of defense played in this contest and I think that both kickers, Prater and Parkey, will have solid scoring days. Sadly, I wish we were able to see a healthy Trubisky on Thursday, but without him this will be a low scoring, tight affair with the Bears winning 23-16.
