Fantasy Football: Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups

Senior Fantasy Football Expert Adam Ronis examines a few players to add to your roster off the waiver wire late in the NFL season!

QB Case Keenum, Denver Broncos

The bye weeks are over, but some teams may still stream quarterbacks. If that’s the case, Keenum is an option. Keenum hasn’t been great, but the matchup against the Bengals is as good as it gets. The Bengals have allowed at least three touchdown passes to four of the last five quarterbacks they have faced and the one they didn’t was against Lamar Jackson in Week 11 when he barely passed the ball. The Bengals have allowed 25 passing touchdowns.

RB Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts

Marlon Mack left Week 12 with a concussion. There’s a chance he sits in Week 13. Hines has played well in the games Mack has missed this season, averaging seven receptions and 16.45 points in PPR formats. Hines had nine carries for 28 yards and caught two passes for 22 yards against the Dolphins in Week 12 and played 26 snaps. Jordan Wilkins played eight snaps and didn’t get a carry and caught three passes for 32 yards.

RB Justin Jackson, Los Angeles Chargers

Melvin Gordon has a Grade 2 MCL sprain and is out for a few weeks. Austin Ekeler will get most of the touches and is the top add of the week if he’s available, but he’s owned in most leagues. Jackson will see some touches and is an add in deeper formats. After Gordon left Week 12, Jackson played 13 snaps and rushed for 57 yards on seven carries.

WR Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers

Samuel has been producing solid numbers recently despite not playing many snaps. In Week 12 against the Seahawks, Samuel played a season-high in snaps with Devin Funchess out with a back injury. Samuel played 54 snaps, but only had two targets, one week after getting seven targets while playing 16 snaps. Samuel had two catches for 17 yards with a touchdown and had a 25-yard run. Samuel has double-digit points in PPR formats in three of the last four games and can be considered a flex play in deeper formats.

WR Josh Doctson, Washington Redskins

Doctson hasn’t lived up to the lofty expectations many had for him coming out of TCU. It does seem as if Colt McCoy has a preference for throwing to Doctson. When he replaced Alex Smith in Week 11, he targeted Doctson five times. Against the Cowboys in Week 12, Doctson had ten targets and caught six passes for 66 yards. Doctson has at least nine points in PPR formats in four of the last five games and 17 targets the last two games. Doctson gets a great matchup against an Eagles secondary that is decimated by injuries.

WR Dante Pettis, San Francisco 49ers

Pettis played a season-high 58 snaps in Week 12 against the Buccaneers with Pierre Garcon out with an injury and Marquise Goodwin away from the team for personal reasons. If they’re out again or even one is out, Pettis should see a big role again. Pettis caught four passes for 77 yards with a touchdown on seven targets in a great matchup against the Buccaneers. Pettis has 13 targets the last two games.

TE Chris Herndon, New York Jets

Herndon has been mentioned as a pickup several times. He is only eight-percent owned in Yahoo! Leagues for those desperate at tight end. In five of the last six games, Herndon has at least double-digit points in PPR formats. While he was touchdown dependent from Weeks 6-8, he has still produced without scoring a touchdown the last three games. In Week 12 against the Patriots, Herndon had a season-high eight targets, catching seven passes for 57 yards.
