Side Note:  My #2 stack — Pirates, My #1 sneaky stack – Royals …

HIGHEST SCORING PITCHERS

  1. Aaron Nola — 64
  2. James Paxton — 58 … Dude threw a no hitter and still didn’t beat Nola.  Was a hell of a game though.
  3. Jon Gray — 55
  4. Jeremy Hellickson — 54 .. Flirted with a perfect game
  5. Luis Severino — 49 … Much higher priced than all the guys above him
  6. Sean Newcomb — 46
  7. Clayton Richard — 43 … Best value arm of the day

WORST PITCHER(S)

  1. Dylan Bundy — (-21) … Ouch
  2. Ivan Nova — (-3) … Ouch
  3. Wade Miley — 1 … Left with an injury
  4. Jason Vargas — 3
  5. Marcus Stroman — 6….. Something is broken with Stroman

CATCHERS

  1. Wellington Beef Castillo — 40.9 … Double Dong Helps
  2. Yasmani Grandal — 28.2
  3. Victor Martinez — 22.2
  4. J.R. Murphy — 22.2
  5. Salvador Perez — 22.2
  6. Mike Zunino — 22.2
  7. Caleb Joseph — 21.7
  8. JOrge Alfaro — 21.7
  9. Tucker Barnhardt — 18.5
  10. Pedro Severino — 15.7

Yes…  Those are all real scores…  Yes, I have a theory behind it.  Wanna hear it?  OK, too bad, you’re this far in you might as well read into it.  So my theory is that nobody takes more of a beating in the game of baseball than catchers (duh), and historically I have seen catchers do well on Monday’s and Tuesday’s when they’ve had a little extra rest either with Sunday off or Monday off usually and then they come through in their next game because they have more leg power from the rest….   Yes, it’s a documented #DongersClub Manifesto Theory…   Carry on now.

FIRST BASE

  1. Justin Bour — 28.2
  2. Josh Bell – 24.9
  3. Chris Davis — 18.7
  4. Carlos Santana — 18.7
  5. Paul Goldschmidt — 18.4

SECOND BASE

  1. Scooter Gennett — 22.2
  2. Eduardo Nunez — 21.4
  3. Ryan Goins — 16.2 … When you score 10 runs in the first inning even Ryan Goins is going to get in on the act
  4. Robinson Cano — 15.7
  5. Jonathan Schoooop — 13.2

THIRD BASE

  1. Mike Moustakas — 50.9 … Hit one onto Eutaw St.
  2. Eugenio Suarez — 32.4 … On fire.
  3. Danny Valencia — 28.2
  4. Jeimer Candelario — 27.7
  5. Yolmer Sanchez — 24.9

Lots of production from 3B last night but the majority of it was low owned.  Kris Bryant and Nolan Arenado both had just average games.   Adrian Beltre was only 2k on FD (because they’re lazy) and put up a 16.  Alex Bregman (not noted) had a solo HR for Houston, he is heating up.

SHORTSTOP

  1. Jose Iglesias — 31.4
  2. Trevor Story — 28.2
  3. Francisco Lindor — 24.7
  4. Marcus Semien — 21.4
  5. Jurickson Profar — 18.7

If you had the guts to roll Iglesias I feel sorry for you that the next two guys who were heavily owned came through.

OUTFIELD

  1. Giancarlo Stanton — 46.4 … 2 HR
  2. Alex Gordon — 37.9 … Rakes in Camden
  3. Jorge Soler — 37.9 … Could he actually be good?   My column:
  4. Corey Dickerson — 25.2
  5. AJ Pollock … 25.2 … He is on fire this year
  6. Justin Upton — 25.2
  7. Aaron Altherr — 21.7 … #DongersClub
  8. Starling Marte — 21.7
  9. Dee Gordon — 21.2 … Dee Gordon puts up a 20 every day and nobody notices or cares.

OBSERVATIONS

  • It’s tough sometimes to just fade coors, but you should really start your analysis and lineup construction that way.  Then when you have a position that feels week you can jump over to Coors.  I had Arenado, Story and Upton as my main guys in Coors last night.  Two of them came through and while my non Arenado lineups were Moustakas and I wish they all were Moose, it didn’t ultimately kill me too much having Nolan there.  Go Coors Light in my mind when you feel it’s a good game.
  • Arizona owns LA
  • Batters vs Ballparks MATTER!    Alex Gordon’s stats in Camden Yards as noted on the broadcast are insane.  Paul Goldschmidt doesn’t take 0’s in LA…..
  • The Phillies continue to hit at home and not on the road.  They’re young and they play better at home.
  • The Royals are not the bottom feeder lineup when healthy.  They just need a tiny ballpark.
