Well, so far, I’m improving in my own lineups.  I did better on FD than DK last week, but with NFL going on, I don’t think anyone pays much attention to PGA……other than us that is!  Two major differences this week:

    1. We are moving to Malaysia
    2. This is a NO CUT event

While research is still important, you can take a shot on guys you normally may avoid because – barring a WD – EVERYONE GETS FOUR ROUNDS!

I like to keep it simple in weeks like this.  The major statistics to look at this week are Shots Gained on Approach, Birdies or Better and Par 5 Scoring.  Guys who can scramble will do well here and – given two repeat winners in the last 5 years – course history can help.  I’m also a big Current Form advocate because golf is such a mental game and your last rounds influence you until you can break that streak…..and I don’t like to rely on that in tournament play.  It happens, I know.  But I don’t want to put those guys in my core of players.  Now, taking a shot or two – especially in no-cut events like this – I can support.

Favorites:  Justin Thomas & Ryan Moore (both defended their first victory here with a win the following year); Keegan Bradley (plays well here and current form is good); Gary Woodland (good course history);  Billy Horschel (on fire lately – at least the last two tourneys he played), Brandt Snedeker (look at last week)

2nd Tier:  Rafa Cabrera Bello (recently, I just hate to bet against him); Emiliano Grillo; Marc Leishman; JB Holmes (played well last week and has hopefully found his game); Byeong-Hun An (really can never count him out); Cameron Smith (playing well); Pat Perez (won here last year and wasn’t playing well coming in – just like this year); Kevin Tway (won last week but it’s still difficult to go back-to-back)

    Under $8K Above $6900:  Charles Howell ($7900); Sam Ryder ($7700); Thomas Pieters ($7500); Aphibarnrat ($7300 – home town/country favorite); Joel Dahmen ($7000)

Under $7K:  Brian Gay; Troy Merritt (I LOOOOVE THIS GUY this week for $6900).

LONGSHOT:  Sihwan Kim ($6500).  I know he sounds like he’s an Asian player but he’s actually form the US.  He doesn’t play every week, but his last four tournaments have been T11, T46, 3rd, and T62.  He’s averaging 18.75 birdies per tournament in that run and, with no cut, more birdies = more points.

Good luck and don’t be afraid to take a shot with guys in a GPP!
