As funny as it seems, we are starting a new FedEx Cup season this week.  Of course, play will be limited more to the “lesser” names and some new fresh blood that graduated from the Web.com Tour.  Hopefully, with everyone “distracted” with NFL – admittedly, I’ll probably play it more than PGA too – we can make some cash.

First and foremost – the new guys to watch (and some have dabbled in the Tour before) are:

Kramer Hickok, SungJae Im (I’m kinda liking this guy), Anders Albertson, and Kyoung-Hoon Lee.  Guys that got their card back on Web.com are Cameron Champ, Carlos Ortiz, Sam Burns, Sebastian Munoz, Scott Langley and Roberto Castro.  Admittedly, they were never fixtures, but they had some experience on the PGA Tour.

Of those guys, I wouldn’t be afraid to take a shot in a GPP on any of the ones that have experience, but I actually like the first three I listed – Hickok, Im and Albertson – more.  I’m one that looks that the guys taking the first bite and don’t have any past Tour disappointments to recall during play.

As for the tournament, bombers and ball strikers can be played her since their isn’t much in the way of a massive penalizer if fairways are missed.

Likes:   Brendan Steele (winner last 2 years), Emiliano Grillo, Martin Laird, Brandt Snedeker, Patrick Cantlay, Joaquin Niemann (like him a lot), Luke List and Chris Kirk.

I may take a flyer on Phil Mickelson, but I’m not even sure why he’s playing other than he’s honoring a commitment.  His play has been so bad lately – especially at the Ryder Cup.  But, it’s Phil and he’s always been streaky and turn that streak 180 degrees at the drop of a button-up shirt (isn’t that thing hideous – and too small) or a dime an become a world-beater.

Longshots below $8000 (not already mentioned above) – JB Holmes, Dylan Fritelli, Jamie Lovemark, Danny Lee, Sam Ryder, Chesson Hadley and Nick Watney.  Also, Seamus Power is $6800.

Good luck!  We can always play both!…….and hopefully win!
